Grove HSC TY7 Q20b

Grove HSC 3u TY7 Q4

Grove HSC ch 7 test yourself q4

Juliette Tighe
Tutor Group 39I'm not sure what's wrong but the answers say 5pi/12

you were close, -sin^(-1)(-1/2)=sin^(-1)(1/2) as sin^(-1)x is odd.

and sin^(-1)(1/2)=pi/6  (not pi/3)

then it works.

see written solution.

Grove HSC 3U - Challenge 5, Q23

hey sir also its in challenge 5

$u=\cos x$
$du=-\sin x dx$

Recall $\sin^2x=1-\cos^2x$

So, $I=-\int \sin^2x\, \sin x \,dx$
$I=-\int (1-\cos^2x)\, \sin x \,dx$
$I=-\int (1-u^2)\, du$
$I=-u+u^3/3+c$

Grove HSC 3U Ex 5.11 Q1c

Grove HSC 5.11 q2c

You got the sign wrong, its $\Large x-{\sin(2x)\over 2}$ on line 3.
Line 4 correction: $\ldots \Large \left[ { \pi^2\over 2}-{\pi^2\over 8} \right]$

Juliette

Thats good.
Then $(x\sqrt(u))^2=x^2 u$ and then $x^2$ cancels.
